
Chief minister Eknath Shinde has asked people to use face masks in crowded places due to the new Covid-19 Omicron sub-variant JN.1. He also called for audits in health institutions and the availability of isolation and oxygen beds. Additional municipal commissioner Sudhakar Shinde stated that the BMC administration is prepared for any increase in Covid cases. The state has registered one JN.1 case and will send samples for genome sequencing. There are currently 45 Covid patients in the state.
