Five cadaver donations in a week, 44 this year

A 46-year-old Mulund resident, who fell down the stairs and was declared brain dead, donated his kidneys and liver to three patients with end-stage organ disease. The man's family consented to this donation at Fortis Hospital, Mulund. The total count of cadaver donors this year has reached 44, with five donations taking place in the city since November 25. The donated liver went to a 69-year-old man from Palthan, Satara, and one kidney was given to a 39-year-old Thane resident at Fortis Hospital.
