
Central Railway (CR) conducted a crackdown on ticketless travel at Thane, catching 3,092 passengers for unauthorized travel. This is the highest number of cases registered in a single day on the suburban network. The crackdown involved deploying 120 ticket checking staff and 30 Railway Protection Force personnel. A fine of Rs 8.6 lakh was collected from the offenders. Thane is the busiest suburban station in Mumbai, handling over 1,000 services every day.
