Protests broke out at toll plazas near Mumbai as the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) threatened to burn them down. The protests were in response to a claim made by Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis that tolls had been waived for cars and smaller vehicles across the state. MNS leader Raj Thackeray accused toll booths of being a source of income for politicians and threatened to gather MNS workers at toll booths to ensure that vehicles were not charged tolls. Several MNS activists were detained for protesting at toll plazas in Navi Mumbai.
