Protests broke out at toll plazas near Mumbai as the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) threatened to burn them down. The protests were in response to a claim made by Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis that tolls had been waived for cars and smaller vehicles across the state. MNS leader Raj Thackeray accused toll booths of being a source of income for politicians and threatened to gather MNS workers at toll booths to ensure that vehicles were not charged tolls.
