Central Railway has announced plans to set up women's 'powder rooms' at seven busy stations in Mumbai, providing highly sanitised toilets exclusively for women. The initiative is expected to generate non-fare revenue of nearly Rs 40 lakh per annum for five years. The powder rooms will also include retail space where licensees can sell non-food items such as women's hygiene products and cosmetics. The move comes as a relief to female train commuters who often complain about the lack of adequate toilets at railway stations.
