CR’s new hi-tech equipment to detect faults, avoid mishaps

The Central Railway has introduced a new solution for overhead equipment inspections, using contactless laser-based technology to detect faults early and prevent mishaps. The system can be used in just five minutes after a train has passed and provides accurate measurements of overhead wires. It also reduces the need for traffic and power mega blocks, which cause inconvenience for commuters. The lightweight equipment is cost-effective and can be operated by just 1 to 2 personnel. The railway plans to deploy 70 such instruments within the next four months.
