Couple from Vapi held for stealing from vacant homes

A Vapi based couple would travel by train to get to Vasai and commit thefts in vacant flats have been arrested. While the main accused Santosh Jathap has over a dozen cases of house-breaking, his wife Geeta is relatively new in the ‘profession’, said the police. The couple came under the police scanner after a vacant flat in Jeevdani Nagar of Virar was robbed of jewellery worth over Rs 1 lakh early this month. Based on closed circuit television images, a couple was the prime suspect.
